Wearable Arts

This year we created headbands, pois and a class piuiu (Maori skirt) for our Wearable Arts.  We combined Maori and Pacific cultures to send a message about "How Far Will You Go.... to save the oceans from plastic."  We used a Maori Version of the song from Moana.  

Making music

In term 2 and 3 we have been learning to make music with boom whackers.It was so much fun!

Groovy Gardens

This term we have begun an inquiry into what makes a great garden. This padlet show the responses we made to question at the beginning of our study.

This term I have been learning to sketch my face and identify hot and cold colours.

Art Exhibition Art Work

We were learning to sketch flowers and plants from our school environment.

We also learnt to blend the colours for our background using paint.

We are very proud of our completed collaborative artwork for the Art Exhibition this year.

Our finished work is now on display in the newly renovated school office.

Celebrating Matariki at the Auckland Museum - Tå Moko

On Monday 3rd July we visited the Auckland Museum and took part in learning about Matariki - The Måori New Year.  We heard a story about Tå Moko - Måori patterns and design on the face - and we also learnt a song about this using some of our native bird names 

- Pekapeka (Bat) Kaka (Parrot), Ruru (Owl) and Kiwi.

We had a lot of fun and really enjoyed our time looking at some of the other 

exhibits on display at the museum.

I Am Learning To Float

I Am Learning To Float Using A Noodle.

I know I can do this when I wrap the noodle around my body and lean back taking my feet off the ground.

This term we are learning Water Skills.  

We are learning how to get in and out of the pool and be safe around water.

Welcome to Room 4's Solar System

In Room 4, we have been learning about the Space. We have been learning about the planets in our Solar System. We talked about the different things that are on the planets. We made a brainstorm about what our planets could look like.

I am learning to create a clown face using pastels, and add another feature using a different medium.

I wrote my own sentence about who my clown is.
